Carp Nations - England V Wales - Lamby Lake

We are having a charity match called - Carp Nations! The idea is for a team of ten English Anglers to fish against a team of ten Welsh anglers over a 48hr period to raise money for charity. The team with the largest combined weight wins.

The date has been confirmed for this to start on the evening of Friday April the 24th until Sunday 26th April. This is in the closed season and we have special permission to run the event on these dates.

There will be a entry fee for the match to be confirmed. We already have had massive interest in this event but if you would like to either fish in the event of help with raising money for a worthy charity please contact us.

We are in the process of securing sponsorship for the event. We have already had some interest in companies like Carpworld. So keep an eye out for this one there is a lot of excitment about it!

Lamby - Going from strength to strength!

As we promised almost a year ago now - Lamby gets five big new twenties!

Early this morning we took delivery of the first stocking of our Fishers Pond carp from Mark Simmonds. These fish silenced everyone present including the Simmo doubters. These carp were pure muscle and coloured in a lovely chestnut hue.

We have not spared any expense or cut any corners with these fish. They are some of the best fish stocked into UK waters this year.

These 5 fish come from 100 mirrors grown on to this size by Mark Simmonds for 2008. Selected to be some of the countries finest carp, whittled out of over 15,000 fish!

To say we are pleased is an understatement and the future for these fish is mind blowing. At only six years old they all have the potential to grow over the magical 40lb mark!

We also have another 5 coming in January.

  The Future is Bright!

Look at those shoulders??

Ross was pumped up to lift the first fish out at a solid 23.08lb.

Over 24lb of muscle

At 24lb+ this fish has bigger shoulders then gut. Which is more then can be said for some!
Another 24lb mirror

The excitement was too much for Pete so he put his slippers on and had a nap with this stunning 24lb carp.

Well proportioned - with big pecs!

Looking in good shape for this time of the morning, Rich with a stunning 24lb+ mirror carp.
A big surprise!

We were all very happy to see this fish all 27lb of it.

Watch out for this fish we think a new lake record mirror could be on the cards soon!

The fish are on the feed!

The sun has come out for the first time this year and it has spurred the fish on to feed.

Gary Marshal was tearing Lamby apart last weekend landing no fewer than 12 carp to 23lb in a 24hrs session. Six of these were over 20lb landing a 21lb, 21.4lb, 21.8lb 21.12lb 22.4lb and a 23.6lb common. He also had another four carp from17lb to 19lb!

Other then this there have been a lot of other 20's out including a 22lb common to Ross (off the top). Apple at over 20lb. A day ticket angler landed a 24lb common carp in a short morning session.

Then some of the real biggies came out:

On Thursday Tom from BM Baits caught Frodo at 28.8lb.

On Saturday morning Starburst was caught at over 27lb.

On Sunday morning Flora came out at 30.08lb.

A Busy Winter ahead!

It will be a busy and exciting time for us over the next few months! By the end of October the lake will have 5 new mid 20's in the lake.

We will then let them get used to their new home and let the water cool. When this happens we have got a professional team to net the lake. They are netting the lake only to remove the small carp. Depending on how many they net we could have another new Leaney carp going in which could be a monster! A lot of this is thanks to some great help from Dan one of our members (so thanks a lot for that).

We will then put in another 5 mid twenties in January and also hopefully some Pike to help balance the lake.

All of this is to help create a healthy fishery and bring on the lakes existing fish stocks, including the specimen rudd and pearch that are now growing over 3lb. This means that by next year our carp stocking problems will be sorted and that there will be around 50 - 20's in the lake with hopefully a big surprise too!

20's, 20's and more 20's

Lamby keeps producing a lot of fish over 20lb with many fish caught to 28lb over the last few weeks!

Notably Cardiff Tower broke his PB twice in a morning with not only his first 20 but a brace of them!

Tower on top of the world!

His first 20lber

A lovely fat common weighing just over 21lb.

His 2nd 20 not long after the first

Starburst on the bank a much sought after fish at 24lb.

"I danced a jig when I saw her. "

Lamby - The PB breaker!

Lamby continues to produce many big fish.
This has resulted in a number of lucky anglers smashing PB's.

  Smashing PB's!

Does it get better then this??

Joey Lia was elated to catch Frodo at just under 28lb!

Lamby starts off its second season in normal Lamby style:
20.10lb, 20.12lb, 21.10lb, 23lb, 24.05, 24.06, 26.08, 26.04, 31.02lb!

Lamby has started the season off well with too many fish to mention here (all captures are on the forum!).

There were a couple of PB's broken with Matt breaking his twice in the weekend. Firstly with a 20lb common which he later eclipsed with a 24lber.

Another member Dean also caught a new PB in the shape of a lovely 23lb common carp!

The weekend was rounded off nicely when Big G landed the stunning Flora. It was her first time on the bank at over 30lb.

A Big Fish - A Big Smile!

Flora is one of the jewels in Lamby's crown and she is still only a young fish. She was tempted on the awesome Crab & Cray form BM Baits!
